An antispasmodic drug, which removes pain and reduces the tone of smooth muscles: gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, uterus, it also relaxes the detrusor (direct antispasmodic and m-anticholinergic effect). Increases bladder capacity, reduces the frequency of detrusor contractions, hinders urination. Well tolerated when appointed for a long term. Used in neurogenic bladder (including detrusor hyperreflexia, multiple sclerosis or spina bifida), urinary incontinence (of idiopathic origin), nocturnal enuresis (in children older than 5 years).

Oxytrol is an antispasmodic drug, manufactured in the form of transdermal system (patch). Oxytrol is used for the symptomatic treatment of overactive bladder in adult men and women. Oxytrol exerts spasmolytic effect over the bladder, thus helping to

regain bladder control
prevent urinary incontinence
reduce the mean number of micturitions

The advantage of Oxytrol patch over the oral antispasmodics lies in its prolonged spasmolytic effect. In contrast to conventional oral tablets, which should be used 2-3 times a day, one Oxytrol patch helps controlling overactive bladder symptoms 3-4 days in a row.

Missed Dose

If you forget to use Oxytrol, take the prescribed dose as soon as you can. If you remember about it near your next Oxytrol dose time, skip the missed dose of this antispasmodic / anticholinergic agent and continue your regular dosing schedule without doubling the dose.

More Information

Oxytrol patch should be changed twice a week for an effective management of the overactive bladder symptoms. Position of the patch Oxytrol should be changed every 7 days.

Oxytrol Side Effects

Usually, the adverse reactions of Oxytrol are not severe, and basically are mild and transient. Most often, Oxytrol causes insomnia, flushing, diarrhoea, constipation, dyspepsia, dizziness, flatulence, somnolence, nervousness, fatigue, dysuria, headache, nausea, abdominal pain. The frequency of these adverse reactions is more than 2%. Oxytrol may also cause urinary hesitation, blurred vision, dry skin, urinary tract infection, rash, back pain, urinary retention, dry mouth.
